OMNI Drilling Reamer/Stabilizer is the first tool in the market to be equipped with PDC cutters on a cutting profile to help opening borehole in cases of severe swelling and/or borehole instability. Besides the drilling capability, this tool provides reaming/ stabilization through integral blade design. Blades are doped with dome or flat TCI to provide more reaming or stabilization according to the drilling and formation conditions.
This tool is ideally installed at about 100ft. above the drill bit as the last gauge device in the BHA to prevent sticking by back drilling the way for the rest of BHA while pulling out of hole (POOH).
This tool can be grouped into two types as below:
I. Single Drilling Action Reamer/Stabilizer (Back Cut)
II. Dual Drilling Action Reamer/Stabilizer (Dual Action)
I. Single Drilling Action Reamer/Stabilizer
This type is configured with PDC cutters on the upper end of the tool to suit directional drilling with Mud Motor Assemblies during sliding mode of drilling. Front reaming is provided by means of dome TCI while back drilling/reaming is provided by PDC cutters.
II. Dual Drilling Action Reamer/Stabilizer
This type is configured with PDC cutters on both the upper and lower ends to suit vertical drilling and directional drilling with Rotary Steerable System Assemblies (RSS) where rotary mode of drilling is prevalent.
• Security against getting stuck downhole, provided a top drive is used to rotate while POOH
• Improved hole gauge and condition
• Reduced torque compared to the fixed blade stabilizers
• Optimized mud flow through helical mud ways
• 360? contact for maximum stabilization and lower vibration
